Ajay Scott (born 3 August 2003) is a British archer. Competing in the compound bow category, Scott represents the Great Britain national team.[1][2] He won the silver medal in men's individual compound and the bronze medal in mixed team compound at the 2025 Summer World University Games, and won the mixed team compound title with Ella Gibson at the Shanghai stage of the 2025 Archery World Cup.[3][4] The same pair won the silver medal in mixed team compound at the 2026 European Archery Championships.[5]
Career
Scott grew up in Kent and began archery in 2014. According to his Archery GB athlete profile, he was introduced to archery at the age of 11 after trying a longbow at an event held at a medieval castle. From 2023, he moved from youth-team level into the senior squad, representing Great Britain while studying at the University of Kent.[2]
In 2024, Scott won the silver medal in men's individual compound at the Fetih Cup held in Istanbul, Turkey. The same year, at the third stage of the 2024 Archery World Cup held in Antalya, he won the silver medal in mixed team compound with Ella Gibson. Great Britain lost 158–155 to Kazakhstan in the final and finished second.[2][6]
At the second stage of the 2025 Archery World Cup held in Shanghai, China, Scott won the gold medal in mixed team compound with Gibson. Great Britain defeated Vietnam and Italy in the elimination rounds, then beat India in the semi-finals and Turkey 156–153 in the final to win the title. The result was Great Britain's first mixed team compound gold medal at a World Cup stage since 2019.[4][7] At the fourth stage of the 2025 Archery World Cup held in Madrid, Spain, Scott reached the final four of a World Cup stage in men's individual compound for the first time. He defeated Poland's Łukasz Przybylski 145–144 in the quarter-finals and then faced Turkey's Emircan Haney in the semi-finals. He later competed in the bronze-medal match, where he lost to France's Nicolas Girard and finished fourth.[8][9] At the 2025 Summer World University Games held in Essen, Germany, Scott won the silver medal in men's individual compound. In the final, he lost 149–148 to India's Sahil Rajesh Jadhav and finished second. At the same event, he won the bronze medal in mixed team compound with Hallie Boulton for Great Britain.[3][10] At the Swiss Open Lausanne in 2025, Scott won the gold medal in men's individual compound. In the final, he drew 148–148 with France's Nicolas Girard, before winning the shoot-off. The result was Scott's first individual international gold medal.[11] During the same indoor season, he finished second at the Rio de Janeiro stage and entered the world top ten before the 2026 European Outdoor Championships.[12]
At the 2026 European Archery Championships held in Antalya, Turkey, Scott won the silver medal in mixed team compound with Gibson. Great Britain lost the final to the Netherlands, represented by Sanne de Laat and Mike Schloesser, and finished as European runner-up.[5][13]
