Influences

AAS[1] is a Latvian filmmaker collective and movement, founded by the Skultes, who were previously known for creating the TV series “Viesnīca Muflona”. The collective has been active since 2023.

Dzintis and Ansis later joined AAS, forming the current generation of the collective, also known as AAS Gen 2. Many individuals have been considered as possible prospects for the future AAS Gen 3.

History

The organisation was co-founded by Roberts and Bruno (AAS Gen 1) sometime in the late 2010s. In 2023, they were joined by members DMP (formerly known as Dāvids/Paper/Idmarkush), Dāvis, Mareks, and Coming [2]. This decision coincided with the release of DMP’s cult classic film “Saāķētie” (starring RS and Coming). The making of the film is considered to be the birth event of the modern AAS.

In the spring of 2024, Ansis joined the collective. Around this time, “Olimpiskā Vasara” [3], the 10th AAS film, was released, with Ansis in the lead role. The collective would continue releasing projects inconsistently across 2024 and 2025.

AAS Gen 2 was joined by its eighth and final member, Dzintis DGG, in the summer of 2025.

As of June 2026, twenty-five films under the AAS branding have been released, with two more releasing in late 2026, “DJ Gaisma” [4] directed by Coming and an untitled project, also from Coming.

There have been talks of creating a possible AAS Gen 3 in the future, with rumoured members including Apfelbaums, Zīverts, Bladee, Stefans Pelšs, UC, and Karlo.
