The Death of Arina Glazunova occurred on the night of September 27, 2024 in Tbilisi, Georgia.[1] Glazunova was a 24-year-old Russian tourist who died after falling into an underpass.[2][3] She was walking with a friend through the city center and singing Alla Pugacheva's song “For the Last Time”, filming the walk on her phone.[2][4][5] Glazunova failed to notice the edge of the underpass and fell into it backwards.[1] She was taken to hospital with numerous fractures, including the base of her skull, and later died without regaining consciousness.[4][6]

The incident caused a wide resonance online. At the site of Glazunova's fall, a spontaneous memorial was organized with flowers in memory of the deceased.[1][2] Local residents started a discussion on social networks about the underpass. According to them, the lack of a fence threatens the lives of other passers-by. Some Internet users noted that the crossing is not fenced in any way and said that if no action is taken, the tragedy could happen again.[7]

Personality

Born on February 13, 2000 in Moscow, she was a graduate of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.[1] While studying at the university, she attended a concert at a boarding home for the elderly dedicated to the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.[8] According to a friend of the deceased, Glazunova was able to get to Georgia only from the second time. The first attempt was unsuccessful - Arina arrived at the airport and found that she had forgotten her passport at home. The plane left without her.[4]

Funeral

Glazunova's funeral was held at Vagankovsky cemetery in Moscow on Saturday, October 5. The attendants were close friends and family.[9] Before the funeral could be held, Glazunova's parents traveled to Georgia to return the body to their homeland.[1]
