Christopher Thomas Briney (born March 24, 1998[1][2]) is an American actor. He is known for his roles in the Amazon Prime Video teen romance series The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022–present) and in the musical film Mean Girls (2024).

Early life and education

Briney was born in Hartford, Connecticut,[3] the son of actors who had met in New York City.[4][5] He has one sister.[6][7]

He attended Waterbury Arts Magnet School[3] and participated in a five-week intensive theater program at Wesleyan University in 2015.[6][8] In 2016, he moved to New York City to attend Pace University.[9][10] He graduated with a BFA in acting in 2020.[11][12] While a student, he worked at a Trader Joe's on the Lower East Side in Manhattan.[13][14]

Career

In 2021, the then-unknown Briney was cast in the biographical film Dalíland after being discovered by director Mary Harron.[4][15] He had sent in an audition tape for The Summer I Turned Pretty before production began on Dalíland. He received a callback and did a chemistry read over Zoom while filming Dalíland in Liverpool.[6][14]

In 2023, Briney and his The Summer I Turned Pretty castmates Lola Tung and Gavin Casalegno presented at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.[16][17]

In 2024, Briney starred as Aaron Samuels in the film adaption of Mean Girls: The Musical for Paramount Pictures.[18] He originally turned down the role when it required him to sing, but eventually accepted when the role's singing parts were cut.[19][20]

Personal life

Since June 2021, Briney has been in a relationship with Isabel Machado. The two met as fellow acting students at Pace University.[21]
