Fictional character biography
Bertram Larvan
Bertram Larvan is an inventor who designs a mechanical insect to control insect pests, but lacks financial backing. He turns to crime to steal money and becomes an enemy of the Atom.[2] In Crisis on Infinite Earths, he is killed by the Anti-Monitor's Shadow Demons.[3][4]
Following his death, Larvan does not return for many years. In Blackest Night, he is temporarily revived as a Black Lantern.[5] He is later permanently resurrected following the DC Rebirth relaunch.[6]
An original incarnation of the Bug-Eyed Bandit, Brie Larvan, appears in TV series set in the Arrowverse, portrayed by Emily Kinney.[8] This version is a scientist and former employee at Mercury Labs who wields remote-controlled robotic bees.[9][10]
The Bertram Larvan incarnation of the Bug-Eyed Bandit makes a non-speaking cameo appearance in the Creature Commandos episode "Chasing Squirrels".[11] This version is an inmate of Belle Reve Penitentiary.
