The BYD B series are a line of battery electric buses produced by Chinese vehicle manufacturer BYD. It is the first bus model powered by BYD's Lithium Iron Phosphate Blade electric-batteries. It is available as a 10-metre single-deck (B10), a 11-metre double-deck bus (BD11), a 12-metre single-deck (B12), a 12-metre tri-axles double-deck (B12D), a 15-metre tri-axles single-deck (B15) and a 18-metre articulated bus (B18).[1][2][3]
History
The BYD B series was launched on 29 July 2020, superseding the highly popular BYD K series. The bodywork was designed by Wolfgang Egger.[4] According to BYD, the new bus models feature LED water lamps, USB charging ports, newer-generation wheel hub motors which are 6% more energy-efficient, as well as a lightweight aluminum frame reducing the body weight by up to 10%.[1]
Operations
Mainland China
Jinan: 340 BYD B10 buses were delivered in July 2022.[5]
Changzhou: The first B series buses entered service in 2021.[6]
Shenzhen:
Western Bus operated a fleet of 88 BYD B10s as of 2020.[7]

Many other Chinese cities have bought the B10 or B12, including Wuhan,[10] Guangzhou (as GAC BYD),[11] Guiyang[12] and Changzhou.
A BYD B12A03 Single-deck Bus, also featuring three doors, was showcased at the Singapore International Transport Congress & Exhibition 2022.[23][24][25] After the exhibition ended, the bus was modified, repainted and entered service under SBS Transit on 14 January 2024. It was registered as SG4013A. The bus is deployed on services 70, 70M, 138*, 162 and 265. [26]
On 25 November 2023, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that it had awarded a contract to BYD to purchase 240 3-door BYD BC12A04 buses, with an option for 60 more exercised in October 2024. They had entered revenue service on 2 December 2024[27], deployed on bus routes 86, 107 and 159.
A new BYD BC12A05 (marketed as the B12DS) electric double-deck 3-door 2-staircase bus made its debut in SITCE (Singapore International Transport Congress & Exhibition) 2024. This B12DS bus was specially designed for the Singapore market, with bodywork by Zhuhai Guangtong Vehicle Manufacture. It may be accepted as a trial bus by the Land Transport Authority, due to its vision of having half of the public bus fleet to be electric by 2030, and its recent preference for double-deck buses to have the 3D2S configuration. * The bus was not approved on 138 by LTA due to the third door not able to fit in the bus stop.
United Kingdom: BYD BD11s entered service for Transport for London (TFL) in December 2024.[29][30] Additionally, B12 single-deck electric buses have also been made to TfL specification and are due to enter service.
South America
Chile: 10 B12D double deckers entered service in mid-2023 on Route 520.[31] Transantiago ordered a demonstrator B18C01 articulated bus which entered service on Route 516 that same year.
