Bảo Yên is a rural district of Lào Cai province in the Northeast region of Vietnam. As of 2003, the district had a population of 73,924.^[1] The district covers an area of 821 km². The district capital lies at Phố Ràng.^[1] The Giáy language is spoken in some parts of the district by local minorities. The planned Sapa Airport will be built in this district.
