Pantheon Media Group LLC (formerly known as Asylum Entertainment Group LLC) is an American production company specialized in television and film production founded in 2003 by Steve Michaels.[1] The company was purchased by Legendary Entertainment for $100 million in 2013.[2] Steve Michaels purchased it from Legendary in 2018 and launched The Content Group within the company.[3] In 2023, Endeavor purchased a majority stake in the company.[4]
History
In 2019, Steve Michaels restored the Asylum Entertainment branding following his purchase of the company back from Legendary Entertainment through a restructuration that turned The Content Group into a division with Jodi Flynn joining as president,[5] launched its drama division Clovis Entertainment headed by former Sony Pictures Television executive Derek Stoops[6] as well as its audio division Audity[7] and hired former ITV and Fox executive Ronan Hand as part of its international expansion.[8]
In 2020, Asylum Entertainment Group acquired Collins Avenue Entertainment from Kew Media through its The Content Group division[9] and launched 72 Steps Media as a joint venture with longtime Bunim/Murray Productions executive Ben Salter.[10]
In 2022, Texas Crew Productions was acquired by Asylum Entertainment Group.[11]
In February 2024, Asylum Entertainment Group had announced that they've acquired an investment in London and Glasgow-based British documentary production company Soho Studios Entertainment.[15] Two months later in April 2024, Asylum Entertainment Group announced that they've acquired a stake in another British production company which was called Dare Entertainment.[16]One month later in May of that same year, Asylum Entertainment announced thay they've acquired a minority stake in independent production house Ladywell Films[17] Later in that same month in addition, Asylum Entertainment Group had announced that they've enterted a production partnership with Tyler Perry Studios to jointly produce their unscripted shows.[18]
At the end of July 2024, Asylum Entertainment Group announced that they've acquired a significant stake in British-American live and unscripted production company Done and Dusted.[19] In addition,
In December 2024, Asylum Entertainment Group announced that they've leading a shuffle ans had rebranded themselves as Pantheon Media Group and had hired veteran unscripted executive producer Jennifer O’Connell as their new CEO of the rebranded company with founder Steven Michaels becoming chairman of the rebranded company.[20]
