Apinun Khongsong (Thai : อภินันท์ คงสง , born 14 July 1995), also known professionally as Downua Ruawaiking (ดาวเหนือ เรือไวกิ้ง), is a Thai professional boxer who challenged for the unified WBA (Super) , IBF , and The Ring light-welterweight titles in September 2020.
Boxing career
Khongsong was born in Tambon Lamphu Ra, Amphoe Huai Yot , Trang Province , 14 km (8.7 mi) north of Trang City . He has fought in over 100 fights from Muay Thai to amateur boxing .[ 1] He is a sports athlete at Trang Sports School.[ 2]
He debuted his first professional boxing match in mid-2016 under Ekarat "่Jimmy" Chaichotchuang of Kiat Kreerin Promotion by Rian Munton, a Briton as a trainer. He had his 7th fight on 22 February 2017, where he challenged the vacant IBF Pan Pacific champion, Yuta Maruoka, a Japanese boxer, through a first round knockout .
On 23 August 2017, he won the vacant IBF Asia light-welterweight title by a unanimous decision over Adam Diu "Big Daddy" Abdulhamid, a Filipino challenger, at Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchadaphisek .[ 3]
On 18 February 2019, he fought Japanese boxer, Akihiro Kondo in the IBF junior welterweight world title eliminator fight. Kondo received a right uppercut knockout from Khongsong in the fifth round, at Kōrakuen Hall , Tokyo.
He lost his first fight on 26 September 2020, to Josh Taylor in the first round in unified WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring light-welterweight bout at York Hall , London.
After the fight had passed for a while. Khongsong came out to claim the purse, according to the contract, stating that he would be up to 500,000 pounds (20 million baht ), but he said that he had never even seen the contract. Therefore would like the stable to clarify.[ 4]
