The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship was the fifteenth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship, contested by the men's national teams under the age of 19 of the members of the FIVB, the sport's global governing body. The tournament was held in Riffa, Bahrain from 18 to 27 August 2017.[1] 20 teams from the 5 confederations competed in the tournament.
Players must be born on or after 1 January 1999.
Iran won its second title in the competition, defeating Russia in the final.[2] Japan defeated South Korea for the bronze medal.[3] Amirhossein Esfandiar from Iran was elected the MVP.
The FIVB Sports Events Council revealed a proposal to streamline the number of teams participating in the Age Group World Championships.[4]
Teams were seeded in the first two positions of each pool following the serpentine system according to their FIVB U19 World Ranking as of January 2017.[5] FIVB reserved the right to seed the hosts as head of pool A regardless of the U19 World Ranking. The twelve remaining teams were drawn in next three rows under the condition that there were not too much country in the same confederation were drawn in the same pool.[6] The draw was held in Manama, Bahrain on 20 May 2017.[7] Rankings are shown in brackets except the hosts who ranked 38th.
