Σύνοδος του Ιασίου

Η Σύνοδος του Ιασίου ήταν σύνοδος επισκόπων της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Ιάσιο της Μολδαβίας (σήμερα στη Ρουμανία), από τις 15 Σεπτεμβρίου ως τις 27 Οκτωβρίου του 1642. Συνεκλήθη από τον Οικουμενικό Πατριάρχη Παρθένιο Α΄, με την υποστήριξη του πρίγκηπα της Μολδαβίας Βασιλείου Λούπου[1].

Σκοπός της Συνόδου ήταν να αντιμετωπίσει ορισμένα Ρωμαιοκαθολικά και Προτεσταντικά «δογματικά σφάλματα» που είχαν παρεισφρύσει στην Ορθόδοξη Χριστιανική θεολογία και να προσφέρει μια ολοκληρωμένη Ορθόδοξη δήλωση σχετικά με το περιεχόμενο και τον χαρακτήρα της πίστης[2]. Με την συμμετοχή εκπροσώπων των ελληνικών και σλαβικών Εκκλησιών, καταδίκασε την Καλβινιστική διδασκαλία που αποδιδόταν στον Κύριλλο Λούκαρι και επικύρωσε το (κάπως τροποποιημένο κείμενο του) Expositio fidei (Δήλωση Πίστης, επίσης γνωστή ως Ορθόδοξη Ομολογία) του Πέτρου Μογίλα, μια περιγραφή της Ορθοδοξίας με τη μορφή ερωταποκρίσεων[3][4].

Η Δήλωση της Πίστης έγινε θεμελιώδες κείμενο για την διαμόρφωση της Ορθόδοξης στάσης απέναντι στην Μεταρρυθμιστική σκέψη. Η σημαντική συμβολή της συνόδου ήταν η ενισχυμένη αίσθηση ενότητας της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας μέσω της κύρωσης της Κοινής Δήλωσης από όλες τις μεγάλες Έδρες[2].
