Η Σερβική Αστυνομία[1] αποτελεί την κύρια αστυνομική δύναμη της Σερβίας. Είναι υπεύθυνη για την επιβολή του νόμου σε όλες τις τοπικές και εθνικές αρχές. Τελεί υπό την δικαιοδοσία του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών Υποθέσεων. Η Γενική Αστυνομική Διεύθυνση του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών έχει 15 οργανωτικές μονάδες και 27 Περιφερειακές Αστυνομικές Διευθύνσεις.[2]

Οργάνωση

Η Γενική Αστυνομική Διεύθυνση του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών Υποθέσεων διαθέτει πέντε ξεχωριστά τμήματα:

  • Τμήμα Οργάνωσης, Πρόληψης και Κοινοτικής Αστυνόμευσης,
  • Τμήμα για τη Δημόσια Τάξη και άλλες υποθέσεις της Αστυνομίας,
  • Τμήμα για τις ειδικές δράσεις, τον σχηματισμό αστυνομίας, τις αμυντικές προετοιμασίες και τα αποθεματικά,
  • Τμήμα Ελέγχου νομιμότητας της εργασίας,
  • Τμήμα Προσωπικού, διαμόρφωσης και εξοπλισμού της αστυνομίας.

Υπάρχουν 161 τοπικά αστυνομικά τμήματα σε ολόκληρη τη χώρα, με 62 σταθμούς συνοριοφυλακής και 49 σταθμούς της τροχαίας.[2] Από την 30η Σεπτεμβρίου του 2006, το Υπουργείο Εσωτερικών έχει συνολικά 42.740 εργαζόμενους, 26.527 από τους οποίους είναι ένστολοι αξιωματικοί των οποίων το 6,9% είναι γυναίκες.[2]
