Ρομανί γλώσσα

Η ρομανί γλώσσα[1] [2] [3] [4] είναι μια ινδοάρια γλώσσα που ομιλείται από τις κοινότητες των Ρομά[5]. Σύμφωνα με το Ethnologue, επτά διάλεκτοι της ρομανί είναι αρκετά διαφορετικές ώστε να θεωρούνται ξεχωριστές γλώσσες. Οι μεγαλύτερες από αυτές είναι η βλαχορομανί (περίπου 500.000 ομιλητές στην ΝΑ Ευρώπη[6]), η βαλκανική ρομανί (600.000 ομιλητές[7]) και η σίντι ρομανί (300.000 ομιλητές[8]). Ορισμένες κοινότητες Ρομά μιλούν μικτές γλώσσες με βάση την γλώσσα εντός της οποίας ζουν, διατηρώντας λεξιλόγιο προερχόμενο από τη ρομανί. Αυτές είναι γνωστές στους γλωσσολόγους ως διάλεκτοι παρα-ρομανί, παρά ως διάλεκτοι της ίδιας της ρομανί[9].

Οι διαφορές μεταξύ των διαφόρων διαλέκτων μπορεί να είναι τόσο μεγάλες όσο, για παράδειγμα, οι διαφορές μεταξύ των σλαβικών γλωσσών[10].
