Το The World Factbook είναι μια ετήσια έκδοση της Κεντρικής Υπηρεσίας Πληροφοριών (CIA) των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών, τύπου Αλμανάκ, με βασικά στοιχεία και πληροφορίες για όλες τις χώρες του κόσμου. Το εγχειρίδιο αυτό που αφορά την κάθε Χώρα αναγνωρίζεται επίσημα από τις ΗΠΑ και περιλαμβάνει στοιχεία γενικής εικόνας σε μια περιγραφή δύο-τριών σελίδων για την δημογραφία, τοποθεσία, οικονομία, κυβέρνηση, βιομηχανία, στρατιωτικές δυνατότητες κλπ.

Επειδή το World Factbook είναι δημιουργία της CIA για χρήση από αξιωματούχους των ΗΠΑ και του ΝΑΤΟ, η μορφή και το περιεχόμενο είναι προσανατολισμένα στην κάλυψη συγκεκριμένων αντικειμένων. Το World Factbook δεν καλύπτεται από πνευματικά δικαιώματα επειδή είναι δημιούργημα υπαλλήλων της κυβέρνησης των ΗΠΑ εν υπηρεσία, συνεπώς επιτρέπεται η ελεύθερη αντιγραφή και τροποποίησή του από οποιονδήποτε χωρίς άδεια από την CIA, εκτός βέβαια από το ίδιο το έμβλημα της CIA που καλύπτεται από σχετικό νόμο.[11]
