Η ημέρα της κρίσης / Τζον Μάρτιν, 1853

Η Ημέρα της Κρίσης είναι ένα κύριο μέρος της εσχατολογίας των Αβρααμικών θρησκειών. Σε πολλές από αυτές, θεωρείται αδύνατον να γνωρίζει κάποιος την ημερομηνία και τον τόπο αυτού του γεγονότος και επομένως καταδικάζεται ως αιρετική και βλάσφημη πράξη.

Χριστιανισμός

Σύμφωνα με την Αγία Γραφή, στο κεφάλαιο 20 της Αποκάλυψης, η Ημέρα της Κρίσης θα αρχίσει μετά την καταστροφή του παγκοσμίου συστήματος πραγμάτων λόγω του Αρμαγεδδώνος. Όταν θα συμβεί αυτό το γεγονός, η αόρατη μη υλικής υπόστασης πηγή του κάκου (Σατανάς ή Διάβολος) και οι αόρατοι (πνευματικοί) ακόλουθοι του, θα φυλακιστούν για 1000 χρόνια.

Έπειτα, εξυψωμένα μη υλικής υπόσταση όντα, άνθρωποι που είχανε ζήσει στη Γη, θα κυβερνήσουν μαζί με τον Χριστό για 1000 χρόνια όσους θα έχουν επιζήσει από τον Αρμαγεδδών.

Στο τέλος ο Διάβολος και οι δαίμονές του θα προκαλέσουν μια τελική δοκιμή εναντία στην ανθρωπότητα στην τελική περίοδο των 1000 ετών, που θα έχει ως αποτέλεσμα την ολοσχερή καταστροφή τους, καθώς όσοι άνθρωποι ταχθούν στο πλευρό τους θα ηττηθούν.

Ιουδαϊσμός

Στον Ιουδαϊσμό, οι πεποιθήσεις για την Ημέρα της Κρίσεως (Εβραϊκά: יום הדין, προφέρεται Γιομ Χα-Ντιν), ποικίλλουν. Μερικοί Εβραίοι πιστεύουν ότι θα κριθούν αμέσως μόλις πεθάνουν, ενώ άλλοι πιστεύουν ότι θα κριθούν και από τον Θεό και από τον Μεσσία την Ημέρα της Κρίσης. Κάποιοι πιστεύουν ότι θα αναστηθούν για να μπορούν να κριθούν, ενώ άλλοι πιστεύουν ότι μόνο όσοι είναι ηθικά καλοί θα αναστηθούν.[1]
