Εύρος (μυθολογία)

Κατά την ελληνική μυθολογία, ο Εύρος (αρχ. Εὖρος) ήταν θεός του ανέμου, αδελφός του Βορέα, του Ζέφυρου και του Νότου.[1] Δεν πρέπει να συγχέεται με τον ομόηχο πρόσωπο την ελληνικής μυθολογίας Έβρο. Σύμφωνα με ορισμένους ήταν ο θεός του νοτιοανατολικού ανέμου, αλλά σύμφωνα με άλλους του ανατολικού ανέμου.[2] Στον Πύργο των Αέρηδων στην Αθήνα, ο Εύρος καταλαμβάνει τη νοτιοανατολική πλευρά, ενώ οι Απηλιώτες βρίσκονται στα ανατολικά.

Ο Ρωμαίος ομόλογος του Εύρου ήταν ο Βουλτούρνους, σύμφωνα με τον Πλίνιο τον Πρεσβύτερο·[3] αλλά για τον Αύλο Γέλλιο ο Βουλτούρνους ήταν ο αντίστοιχος νοτιοανατολικός άνεμος του Ευρόνοτου.[4] Γενικά στους Λατίνους ποιητές το όνομα Εύρος (Eurus) χρησιμοποιείται για τον ανατολικό ή τον νοτιοανατολικό άνεμο, όπως στα ελληνικά.[5]
