Win Hands Down ist das siebte Studioalbum der US-amerikanischen Heavy-Metal-Band Armored Saint. Es wurde im Juni 2015 bei Metal Blade Records veröffentlicht.

Entstehung und Veröffentlichung

Das Album wurde erneut von Joey Vera produziert. Der Gesang wurde bei Bridge Recording in Los Angeles aufgenommen, Gitarren und Bass in den Travis Dickerson Studios in Chatsworth und das Schlagzeug bei Clearlake Audio in Burbank. Zwei Videos wurden für das Album veröffentlicht: der Titeltrack und der Song An Exercise in Debauchery. Die Band tourte im Sommer 2015 ausgiebig mit Saxon zur Unterstützung des Albums.[1][2]

Rezeption

Metal.de bewertete das Album mit neun von zehn Punkten. Marek Protzak schrieb: „Keiner Band gelingt es aktuell so elegant wie Armored Saint, klassischen Metal fernab aller Klischees, ohne Überzeichnung und jedwede Comic-Haftigkeit in derart inspirierter und versierter Form zu erschaffen. Die Songs von Joey Vera sind gleichermaßen catchy wie anspruchsvoll und abwechslungsreich und werden nachgerade majestätisch veredelt und mit Leben gefüllt durch die Fähigkeiten der in der Band versammelten Kämpen.“[3]

Die Redaktion des deutschen Rock-Hard-Magazins wählte Win Hands Down zum „Album des Monats“. Chefredakteur Boris Kaiser nannte Armored Saint „eine der am meisten unterschätzten Bands im US-Metal“ und verglich das Album mit Symbol of Salvation aus dem Jahr 1991. Er bewertete es mit 8,5 von 10.[4] 2026 schrieb Ludwig Krammer im Magazin Rock Hard: „Auf Win Hands Down stimmt einfach alles: Songwriting, technische Brillanz und eine druckvolle Produktion, die an Symbol of Salvation heranreicht.“[1]
