Werner Prieß

Werner Prieß (* 1918; † Dezember 1990)[1] war ein deutscher Boxtrainer.

Leben

Prieß, der selbst Boxkämpfe bestritt,[2] war lange Boxtrainer beim Hamburger Verein HBC Heros[1] und beim Hamburger Boxverband.[3]

Zu den Boxern, die Prieß ausbildete beziehungsweise betreute, gehörten deutsche Meister wie Uwe Seemann,[4] Albert Westphal,[5] Raymar Reimers, Horst Schippers,[6] Fritz Oldenburg, Uwe Janssen,[5] Holger Frahm,[7] Wolfgang Schwarz,[5] Olympiasieger Dieter Kottysch[8] und Europameister Jürgen Blin. Prieß galt als einer „der erfolgreichsten deutschen Box-Trainer“.[9] Prieß starb kurz vor seinem 72. Geburtstag und wurde in Buchholz beigesetzt.[1]
