Vestibulum
Das Vestibulum (lateinisch für „Vorhof“ oder „freier Platz vor dem Haus“) bezeichnet
- bei römischen Häusern einen kleinen Vorplatz oder den Eingangsbereich, daraus entwickelte sich das Vestibül;
- in der Biologie
- eine Genitaltasche, welche den Ovipositor (Eiablageapparat) bei Insekten umgibt;
- den Mundtrichter vieler Wimperntierchen (Chilophora);
- in der Anatomie
- einen Teil des Gleichgewichtsorgans, den Vestibularapparat
- eine Kurzbezeichnung für Vestibulum oris, den Mundvorhof, siehe Mundhöhle;
- eine Kurzbezeichnung für Vestibulum nasi, den Nasenvorhof, siehe Nase;
- eine Kurzbezeichnung für Vestibulum vaginae, den Scheidenvorhof
- Vestibulum aortae (Sinus aortae Valsalvae, Bulbus aortae), siehe Aorta
- Vestibulum bursae omentalis (Vorraum der Bursa omentalis), siehe Omentum majus
- Vestibulum gastro-oesophageale, sogenannter Vormagen:
- Vestibulum pyloricum, die „Pförtnerhöhle“ (Antrum pyloricum) des Magens, siehe Magen
- Vestibulum laryngis (oberer Teil vom Innenraum des Kehlkopfes)
- Vestibulum labyrinthi ossei, knöcherner Teil des Vestibularorgans im Innenohr
