Timothy Quill
Timothy Quill (* 9. Mai 1901 in Clondrohid bei Macroom, County Cork, Vereinigtes Königreich von Großbritannien und Irland; † 10. Juni 1960 in Blarney, County Cork, Irland) war ein irischer Politiker der Irish Labour Party. Er war von Juni bis September 1927 Teachta Dála (Abgeordneter) im Dáil Éireann, dem Unterhaus des irischen Parlaments (Oireachtas).
Werdegang
Quill war nach seiner Schulzeit zunächst in der Versicherungsbranche tätig. Er wurde 1925 in den Cork County Council gewählt und konnte wenig später mit den Wahlen im Juni 1927 für den Wahlkreis Cork North in den Dáil einziehen, verlor aber den Sitz bei den Wahlen im September 1927. Zu den Wahlen 1932 und Wahlen 1933 trat er nicht an. Er zog dann nach Cork City und wurde dort in den Cork City Council gewählt. Das Mandat im Cork County Council verlor er. Bei den Wahlen 1937 und 1938 trat er noch einmal an, blieb aber ohne Erfolg[1]
Seit den 1920er Jahren engagierte sich Quill in der Genossenschaftsbewegung und gehörte zu deren wichtigsten Figuren in Irland. Er betrieb eine Kooperative in Blackrock, am Stadtrand von Cork, und züchtete Holstein-Rinder und pflanzte Gemüse.
Quill war mit Mary McCarthy verheiratet.
