Die SIG Sauer P320 ist eine Selbstladepistole des Herstellers SIG Sauer.

Großauftrag für die US-Streitkräfte

Die Streitkräfte der Vereinigten Staaten planten die aktuelle Dienstpistole Beretta 92FS, die das Ende der Lebensdauer erreichte, mit einem neuen Modular Handgun System (MHS) zu ersetzen und zu diesem Zweck rund 500.000 neue Pistolen zu beschaffen. Im Februar 2016 wurden von der Industrie zwölf Vorschläge eingereicht. Am 1. Juli 2016 war SIG Sauer einer der drei verbleibenden Anbieter im Ausschreibungsverfahren.[1] Am 19. Januar 2017 erhielt SIG Sauer den Auftrag.[2]

Die SIG Sauer P320 soll in den nächsten zehn Jahren in Rockingham County für die US-Streitkräfte als M17 produziert werden. Insgesamt sollen für die US Army rund 280.000 Stück sowie weitere 212.000 Stück für die anderen Teilstreitkräfte, einschließlich Munition und Zubehör, für rund 580,2 Millionen US-Dollar hergestellt werden.[3]

Technik

Grundlegendes Merkmal P320 ist ihr modularer Aufbau. Sie kann (mit Ausnahme der größeren .45-ACP-Patrone) durch Umrüstsätze auf eine andere Munition konvertiert werden. Der Umbau ist ohne Einsatz von Werkzeug möglich.[4] Je nach Kompaktheit und Munition sind vielerlei Kombinationen möglich, die jeweils unterschiedliche Magazinkapazität, Lauflänge und Gewicht ergeben. Zusätzliche Komponenten wie z. B. ein Laserlichtmodul können an einer nach STANAG normierten Picatinny-Schiene unterhalb der Mündung angebracht werden.

Der Hebel zum Lösen des Verschlussfangs ist beidseitig bedienbar, ebenso die Magazinraste. Die Waffe hat ein innenliegendes Schlagstück. Einen äußeren Sicherungshebel gibt es nicht. Stattdessen verhindert eine innere Zündstiftsicherung, dass Schüsse ohne Betätigung des Abzuges ausgelöst werden.
