Richard Conroy
Richard Conroy (* 12. September 1933 in Dublin; † 14. Oktober 2024 ebenda) war ein irischer Arzt, Geschäftsmann und Politiker der Fianna Fáil. Er war von 1977 bis 1981 und von 1989 bis 1993 Mitglied des Oberhauses (Seanad Éireann) des irischen Parlaments (Oireachtas).
Leben
Conroy war Hochschullehrer für Physiologie am Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Zugleich war er Manager der 1995 von ihm gegründeten familieneigenen Bergbau- und Rohstofffirma Conroy Gold and Natural Resources. Bei den Wahlen zum Dáil Éireann 1977 trat er erstmals für die Fianna Fáil im Wahlkreis Dublin County Mid an, wurde jedoch nicht gewählt. Auch die Wahlen zum Dáil Éireann 1981, im Februar und im November 1982 sowie 1987 brachten ihm im Wahlkreis Dublin South-West nicht den erhofften Sitz im Dáil ein. 1977 wurde er in den Seanad Éireann über die Kultur- und Bildungsliste gewählt. 1989 folgte seine Wahl in den Seanad über die Industrie- und Gewerbeliste. Seine Versuche, 1993 und 1997 in den Seanad wiedergewählt zu werden, scheiterten. Von 1991 bis 1994 war er Mitglied im Dublin County Council und von 1994 bis 1999 im Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council.[1]
Mit seiner Frau Pamela hatte er zwei Töchter.
