Petrus Bertius
Petrus Bertius (* 14. November 1565 in Beveren aan de IJzer; † 13. Oktober 1629 in Paris) war ein flämischer Gelehrter.
Er war als Philosoph, Theologe, Historiker, Geograph und Kartograph tätig. Bertius publizierte viel auf den Gebieten Mathematik, Geschichte und Theologie. Vor allem ist er bekannt als Herausgeber einer Ausgabe der Geographia von Ptolomäus.
Bertius war Professor und Bibliothekar an der Universität Leiden. 1619 emigrierte er nach Paris. Er konvertierte zum Katholizismus und wurde königlicher Historiograph und Geograph.
Das Bertius Inlet ist nach ihm benannt.
