Paul Morland

Paul Morland ist ein britischer Demograf und Autor, dessen Arbeit sich auf globale Bevölkerungsentwicklungen und ihre politischen, ökonomischen und sozialen Folgen fokussiert. Er hat zahlreiche Beiträge für nationale und internationale Medien verfasst.[1][2]

Akademische Laufbahn

Morland war wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Birkbeck College der University of London und leitender Mitarbeiter am St Antony’s College in Oxford.[3] Er studierte am Corpus Christi College der University of Oxford und am St Antony’s College in Oxford. Seine Promotion (PhD) erlangte er am Birkbeck College der University of London.

Morland beteiligt sich regelmäßig an der öffentlichen Debatte über demografische Entwicklungen. Er schrieb für Zeitungen und Zeitschriften wie The Daily Telegraph, die Financial Times und den New Statesman und war in Rundfunk- und Fernsehsendungen zu Gast, um Themen wie den Rückgang der Geburtenrate, die alternde Gesellschaft und die Bevölkerungspolitik zu erörtern.[4][5][6]

Vor deutschsprachigem Publikum trat er am 23. Mai 2026 auf Englisch im Format Sternstunde Philosophie des SRF auf und argumentiere dabei aus einer pronatalistischen Position heraus.[7]

Privatleben

Morland ist verheiratet und hat drei erwachsene Kinder sowie vier Enkelkinder. Er besitzt die britische und die deutsche Staatsangehörigkeit. Seine Eltern waren deutsche Juden, die in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus aus Deutschland flohen.[8][9]
