Lanús ist eine Stadt im gleichnamigen Verwaltungsgebiet Partido Lanús in der Provinz Buenos Aires (Argentinien) mit gut 450.000 Einwohnern.
Geographie
Die Stadt befindet sich im Osten Argentiniens etwas südlich der Hauptstadt und gehört zum Ballungsraum Gran Buenos Aires. Das Gebiet ist überwiegend flach und niedrig gelegen und wird von kleinen Flüssen und Feuchtgebieten geprägt.
Geschichte
Das Gebiet war ursprünglich von indigenen Gruppen wie Pampas und Guaraní bewohnt, bevor es nach der spanischen Kolonisation landwirtschaftlich erschlossen wurde. Die eigentliche Stadt entstand 1888 als Villa General Paz und wurde später nach dem Grundbesitzer Anacarsis Lanús benannt.
Kultur
Besonders wichtig ist der Fußball, vor allem durch den Club Atlético Lanús, der national und international etwa als zweifacher, amtierender (Stand Frühjahr 2026) Sieger der Copa Sudamericana erfolgreich ist.
Wirtschaft und Verkehr
Die Stadt ist ein bedeutendes Industriezentrum mit Branchen wie Chemie, Textil, Leder, Papier und Lebensmittelverarbeitung. Sie fungiert außerdem als Handels- und Wirtschaftsstandort innerhalb des Großraums Buenos Aires.
Lanús ist gut an Buenos Aires angebunden und verfügt seit 1964 über Bahn- und Busverbindungen für Pendlerverkehr. Zudem ist die Stadt Teil eines dichten Verkehrsnetzes mit Straßen und Eisenbahnlinien im Großraum.
