Kathy Martin
Kathleen Martin ist eine kanadische lutherische Geistliche. Seit 2022 ist sie Bischöfin der British-Columbia-Synode der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Kanada (ELCIC).
Biographie
Martin studierte Evangelische Theologie am Lutheran Theological Seminary Saskatoon, wo sie 2004 den Abschluss als Master of Divinity erwarb, und wurde durch die ELCIC zum Pfarramt ordiniert. Sie hatte die zweite Pfarrstelle an der Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Surrey inne, bevor sie auf die Pfarrstelle der King of Life Lutheran Church in Coquitlam wechselte. Anschließend wurde sie durch Bischof Greg Mohr zur Assistentin des Bischofs der British-Columbia-Synode berufen. Dabei war sie für Mission und die Beziehungen zu den Ortsgemeinden zuständig.[1]
Nachdem Mohr seinen Eintritt in den Ruhestand zum Jahresende 2021 angekündigt hatte, wurde Martin durch die Synodalversammlung am 22. Oktober zur nächsten Bischöfin der Synode gewählt.[2] Sie trat ihr Amt zum 1. Januar 2022 an und wurde an Epiphanias durch die Nationalbischöfin der ELCIC Susan Johnson in der Mount Olive Lutheran Church zur Bischöfin geweiht.[1]
