KOI7

KOI7 (russisch „Код Обмена Информацией, 7 бит“ = „Code für Informationsaustausch, 7 Bit“) war ein an ASCII angelehnter 7-Bit-Zeichensatz zur Darstellung der russischen Sprache, welche das kyrillische Alphabet verwendet.

Der Zeichensatz KOI7 existierte in zwei Varianten. Die eine Variante deckte nur die lateinischen und kyrillischen Großbuchstaben ab, da in einem 7-Bit-Zeichensatz nur 128 Codepositionen zur Verfügung stehen. Die zweite Variante arbeitete mit einer Modusumschaltung, mit welcher das Terminal zwischen lateinischen und kyrillischen Buchstaben umgeschaltet werden konnte. Für die Umschaltung in den russischen Modus wurde das Steuerzeichen Shift Out (0x0E, SO, RUS) und für die Rückschaltung in den lateinischen Modus das Steuerzeichen Shift In (0x0F, SI, LAT) benutzt.

Der Buchstabe Ё/ё fehlte in KOI7, ebenso das große Härtezeichen (Ъ).
