Junksista ist ein deutsches Elektro-Duo, aktiv seit 2011. Es besteht aus der Sängerin Diana Noir und dem Musiker Boog (Jürgen Brischar), der Gitarre und Programming beisteuert. Die Musik verbindet elektronische Beats mit Gitarren; eine eindeutige Genre-Zuordnung nehmen Rezensenten bewusst nicht vor.[1] Junksista veröffentlichte beim belgischen Label Alfa Matrix und ab 2022 beim US-Label COP International.

Geschichte

Nach der ersten eigenveröffentlichten EP (C)Lick Me (2011) erschienen zwischen 2013 und 2018 beim Label Alfa Matrix eine Reihe von Alben: Bad Case of Fabulous (2013), High Voltage Confessions (2014), American Love Story (2016) und Promiscuous Tendencies (2018) – dazu mehrere EPs.[2] 2022 wechselte die Band zum US-amerikanischen Label COP International und veröffentlichte dort das Album 0A.[1] An diesem Album wirkten mehrere Gastsängerinnen der Elektro-Szene mit, darunter Noemi Aurora (Helalyn Flowers), Lis van den Akker und Emke (Black Nail Cabaret).[3]

Stil

Der Stil von Junksista ist grundsätzlich in der elektronischen Musik anzusiedeln, lässt sich aber keinem einzelnen Genre eindeutig zuordnen. Charakteristisch ist die Verbindung von elektronischen Beats und Synthesizern mit Gitarren und Bass sowie halb gesungenem, halb gesprochenem Gesang. Das ReGen Magazine beschrieb die Musik als Mischung aus schweren Synthesizern, funkigen Gitarren und führenden Basslinien und hob hervor, dass sich das Duo bewusst keinem festen Stil verschreibe.[1] Das Album 0A ordnete das Magazin den Kategorien Electro, New Wave und Synthpop zu.[1] Das Onlinemagazin Uselinks beschrieb den Stil auf demselben Album als zugleich „modern, heavy, funky and retro“.[3]
