Judith Leonard
Judith Leonard ist eine Filmproduzentin und -regisseurin mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Dokumentationen.
Leonard arbeitete als Anwältin mit eigener Kanzlei in Tucson. Um das Jahr 1986 herum hatte sie die Idee, eine Dokumentation über Chief Justice Earl Warren zu realisieren. Sie tat sich mit dem Filmemacher Bill Jersey zusammen und es entstand in Berkeley der Dokumentarfilm Super Chief: The Life and Legacy of Earl Warren.[1] Hierfür waren Leonard und Jersey bei der Oscarverleihung 1990 in der Kategorie Bester Dokumentarfilm nominiert.[2]
Im Anschluss war Leonard als Regisseurin und Produzentin an The Story of Mothers & Daughters beteiligt, wofür sie vom National Educational Media Network ausgezeichnet wurde. 2002 verantwortete sie mit Roots: Celebrating 25 Years ein Spezial anlässlich des 25. Jubiläums der Ausstrahlung der Miniserie Roots.[3]
