Unter Involution versteht man

- in der Entwicklungsbiologie das Wandern einer Zellschicht nach innen, wobei diese über eine äußere Zelllage gleitet
- in der Religion und Mystik der „Ewigen Philosophie“ (Philosophia perennis) den der Evolution vorausgehenden Abstiegsprozess (Einfaltung), der vom göttlichen Allgeist ausgehend über das Denken und die Gefühle bis hin zur unbelebten Materie führt (Sri Aurobindo, Ken Wilber, Theosophie)
