Die Gilbert Bay ist eine verzweigte Inlandsbucht an der Labradorküste in der kanadischen Provinz Neufundland und Labrador.
Lage
Die Bucht befindet sich im Südosten der Labrador-Halbinsel. Die schmale Bucht ist im Wesentlichen in ostsüdöstlicher Richtung ausgerichtet und besitzt eine Länge von etwa 30 km und eine maximale Breite von 2,5 km. Nahe dem Kopfende der Bucht befindet sich die Mündung des Gilbert River. Shinneys Waters, ein weiterer Zufluss, mündet in eine südliche Seitenbucht. Die beiden Inseln Denbigh Island und Granby Island trennen die Bucht vom offenen Meer der Labradorsee. Zwei Meeresarme führen zum offenen Meer, ein dritter bildet die Verbindung zur weiter südlich gelegenen Alexis Bay. „Big Island“ und „Leg Island“ sind zwei kleinere benannte Inseln in der Gilbert Bay.
Schutzgebiet
Im Jahr 2005 wurde das Meeresschutzgebiet Gilbert Bay eingerichtet.[1]
