Executive Order 14404
Die Executive Order 14404 vom 6. Mai 2026 mit dem Titel „Imposing sanctions on those responsible for repression in Cuba and for threats to United States national security and foreign policy“ ist ein Präsidialerlass, herausgegeben von US-Präsident Donald Trump. Sie verschärft das bestehende US-Embargo gegen Kuba weiter. Erst Ende Januar 2026 wurde die Executive Order 14380 erlassen, die zur praktischen Ölblockade gegen Kuba führte.
Sie adressiert die
- Grupo De Administracion Empresarial S.A. (GAESA), vom Militär betriebene Unternehmensholding, die große Teile von Kubas Devisenwirtschaft kontrolliert
- Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, aktuelle Geschäftsführerin der Holding
- Moa Nickel S.A., eine in Joint Venture mit der kanadischen Sherritt International betriebenen Nickelmine
Ausländische Hotelketten wie Iberostar, Meliá oder die kanadische Blue Diamond beendeten daraufhin das Management der entsprechenden Hotels.[1] Auch die Nutzung von Kreditkarten wird nicht mehr möglich sein.[2] Sherritt beendete sämtliche Joint Ventures in Kuba.[3]
