Conteh trat bei der Wahl zum Parlament 2017 als unabhängiger Kandidat im Wahlkreis Jimara in der Basse Administrative Region an. Mit 2057 Stimmen konnte er den Wahlkreis und 24,36 % nicht gewinnen und unterlag dem Kandidaten der Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), Alhagie H. Sowe, der 3504 Stimmen (30,05 %) erhielt.[1]

Um 2020 war er Deputy Governor (stellvertretenden Gouverneur) der Upper River Region.[2]

Bei der Wahl zum Parlament 2022 trat er erneut im Wahlkreis, diesmal als Kandidat der National People’s Party (NPP), an. Mit 6861 Stimmen konnte er den Wahlkreis und 58,84 % vor dem bisherigen Inhaber des Sitzes des Wahlkreises in der National Assembly Sowe, der 3504 Stimmen (30,05 %) erhielt, für sich gewinnen.[3]
