Die Eerste Divisie 1970/71 war die 15. Spielzeit der zweithöchsten niederländischen Fußballliga. Sie begann am 23. August 1970 und endete am 9. Mai 1971.

Modus

Die 16 Mannschaften spielten an insgesamt 30 Spieltagen aufgeteilt in einer Hin- und einer Rückrunde jeweils zwei Mal gegeneinander. Die ersten drei Teams stiegen in die Eredivisie auf. Wegen der Auflösung der Tweede Divisie gab es keine Absteiger. Bei Punktgleichheit entschied die Tordifferenz über die Platzierung.

Vereine

Teilnehmer waren die Mannschaften auf den Plätzen 3 bis 15 der letzten Saison. VV Elinkwijk schloss sich dem FC Utrecht aus der Eredivisie an. Dazu kamen die Absteiger GVAV Rapiditas und SVV Schiedam aus der Eredivisie sowie die beiden Aufsteiger SC Heerenveen und WVV Wageningen aus der Tweede Divisie.
