Dominique Barthélemy (Theologe)

Dominique Barthélemy OP (* 16. Mai 1921 in Le Pallet; † 10. Februar 2002 in Freiburg im Üechtland) war ein französischer Dominikaner und Bibelwissenschaftler.

Leben

Dominique Barthélemy trat 1940 in den Dominikanerorden ein und empfing 1947 die Priesterweihe. Er war Mitglied der École biblique et archéologique française de Jérusalem und studierte die Schriftrollen vom Toten Meer. Zusammen mit Józef T. Milik gab er die in Höhle 1 gefundenen Fragmente heraus.[1]

Er wurde daraufhin Professor für Altes Testament an der Universität Freiburg im Üechtland sowie deren Vizerektor.[1] Ab 1953 interessierten ihn besonders die Rollen der Kleinen Propheten. 1963 veröffentlichte er Les Devanciers d’Aquila, worin er bahnbrechende Hypothesen zur Übersetzung und Überlieferung der Septuaginta aufstellte.[1][2] Ferner schrieb er Dieu et son image, eine Einführung in die Lektüre biblischer Texte, die auch ins Deutsche übersetzt wurde.

Barthélemy widmete sich u. a. der Kaige-Gruppe.
