Dean Lueck (* 1958) ist ein US-amerikanischer Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Hochschullehrer.^[1]

Dean Lueck studierte zunächst Biologie an der Gonzaga University und erwarb dort 1980 den Bachelorgrad. Er setzte dann sein Studium auf dem Gebiet der Umweltwissenschaft an der University of Montana fort und legte 1983 die Magisterprüfung ab. Im Jahre 1987 promovierte er im Fach Wirtschaftswissenschaft an der University of Washington zum Ph.D. Seit 1987 war er als Hochschullehrer (wissenschaftlicher Assistent) tätig, zunächst an der Montana State University (1987/88), der Brigham Young University (1988 bis 1991) und der Louisiana State University (1991 bis 1995). Bis 1997 arbeitete er an der North Carolina State University. Von 1997 bis 2004 lehrte er als außerordentlicher Professor an der Montana State University, bis 2010 an der University of Arizona und seit 2016 an der Indiana University, Bloomington. Gastprofessuren führten ihn u. a. nach Barcelona, die University of Toronto, die Universität Bayreuth und die Universität Oslo.

Dean Lueck erwarb außer seinen o. g. Studienfächern Kompetenz in der Rechtswissenschaft. Er beschäftigt sich hauptsächlich mit der wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Untersuchung des Umwelt- bzw. Naturschutzes und des Wildtiermanagements in Verbindung mit der Theorie der Verfügungsrechte („property rights“) und der Neuen Institutionenökonomik.
