Bismanol
Bismanol ist eine Legierung aus Bismut (Bi) und Mangan (Mn), die als Werkstoff für starke Permanentmagneten verwendet wird. Die Legierung wurde 1953 von Edmond Adams et al. am Naval Ordnance Laboratory, einer ehemaligen Forschungseinrichtung der United States Navy, entwickelt.[1][2] Die Legierung hat die höchste magnetische Energiedichte aller zu der Zeit bekannten Werkstoffe. Sie wurde aber in den Folgejahrzehnten weitgehend durch die technisch besser handhabbaren Seltenerdmagnete abgelöst.
