Aibat (Somali Ceebaad, arabisch جزيرة عيباد, jazirat eibad) ist eine Insel von Somalia. Sie gehört politisch zu Somaliland und geographisch zum Zeila-Archipel. Die Insel ist unbewohnt.[1]
Geographie
Aibat ist die zweitgrößte der sechs Inseln des Zeila-Archipels. Sie erstreckt sich ca. 1,9 km nördlich ihrer Schwesterinsel Sacadin langgezogen in den Indischen Ozean. Ausgedehnte Untiefen und ein Riff-Ring erstrecken sich von der Insel nach Nordosten. Ein Leuchtfeuer befindet sich auf der Insel.[2] Die Insel selbst ist eine flache, sandige Insel mit wenigen Büschen. Sie ist ca. 2,8 km lang und ca. 0,9 km breit[3] und hat eine Fläche von ca. 1,58 km² (158 ha). Bis zur Grenze von Dschibuti sind es 21 km.[4]
Klima
Als Klima herrscht heißes Steppenklima mit Monsuneinfluss.
