Adapterprotein

Ein Adapterprotein ist ein Protein, das zwei oder mehrere andere Proteine über Protein-Protein-Interaktionen verbindet.[1] Adapterproteine bringen die gebundenen Proteine in eine räumliche Nähe, wodurch diese miteinander interagieren können. Durch die vorübergehende Gruppierung von Proteinen können größere Proteinkomplexe entstehen und auch eine Signaltransduktion stattfinden.[1] Daher sind Adapterproteine an der zeitlichen und räumlichen Regulation der Signaltransduktion beteiligt.[2][1] Adapterproteine sind modular aus mehreren proteinbindenden Proteindomänen aufgebaut.[1] Manche Adapterproteine sind Protoonkogene.[3][4]
