Piwritan, tirfeddiannwr ystad Trefalun ac Aelod Seneddol oedd John Trevor (ac weithiau, er mwyn gwahaniaethu, John Trevor II; 1596–1673), a ochrai gyda'r Pengryniaid yn Rhyfel Cartref Lloegr. Bu'n AS ar adegau rhwng 1621 a 1659. Roedd yn aelod o'r English Council of State yn ystod Gwerinlywodraeth Lloegr.

Ei dad oedd Sion Trevor (1563–1630), ail fab Sion Trefor (m. 1589), a gododd faenordy Trefalun (neu Drefalyn) yn 1576 ac yno y ganwyd John Trevor. Ei fam oedd Margaret Trevanion (1565-1646). Mab hynaf Sion, ac etifedd yr ystad, oedd Richard Trefor (1558 - 1638) a gafodd bedair o ferched gyda'i wraig Catrin, merch Roesier Puleston o Emral; oherwydd hyn, trosglwyddwyd yr ystad i'w nai, John. Roedd ei dad yn Weinydd y llynges a gwleidydd, yn Aelod Seneddol dros Sir Ddinbych ac a wnaed yn farchog yn 1619.

Dilyn ôl ei droed wnaeth John Trevor i raddau, gan ddod yn AS dros Grampound, Cernyw yn Nhachwedd 1640. Roedd ei fam yn un o deulu Trevanion, Cernyw, yn ferch i Edmund Hampden (1572-1627) ac Eleanor. Cawsant chwech o blant: John, (1626-1672), Richard (1590-1676), Ralph, Mary (1626-1656), Anne a Jane.[1]

Ochrodd gyda'r Seneddwyr ac ymddengys iddo gynrychioli Gogledd Cymru ar nifer o bwyllgorau am gyfnod, yn Llundain.

Olyniaeth

Dilynwyd ef gan ei fab o'r un enw, Syr John Trevor (1626–1672), a oedd hefyd yn AS, ar yr un pryd a'i dad yn ystod Gwerinlywodraeth Lloegr ac a ddaeth yn Ysgrifennydd Gwladol yn 1668.
