Imiwneiddio yw'r broses ble mae'r system imiwnedd unigolyn yn cael eu hatgyfnerthu yn erbyn asiant (a elwir yn immunogen).[1]

Ceir imiwnedd gweithredol pan fod unigolion yn cynhyrchu gwrthgyrff yn eu llif gwaed eu hun. Gall hyn ddigwydd naill ai yn naturiol pan fydd y corff wedi cael ei heintio gan glefyd, neu yn artiffisial drwy frechiad.
