Adi soğan (lat. Allium cepa) — bitkilər aləminin qulançarçiçəklilər dəstəsinin amarilliskimilər fəsiləsinin soğan cinsinə aid bitki növü. Həmçinin, soğan sözü bu bitkinin qida kimi istehlak olunan soğanağı üçün də istifadə olunur. Bitkinin qida olaraq istifadə olunan, yaşıl torpaqüstü hissəsi yaşıl soğan (təzə soğan) kimi tanınır.
Soğanın soğanağının diametri 15 sm-ə qədər olur, lay-lay nazik təbəqələrdən ibarətdir. Üst qabığı quru olub, sarı, bəzən də ağ və ya bənövşəyi rəngdə olur. Soğanağın daxili ətli hissəsi ağ, yaşılaçalan, yaxud bənövşəyi rəngdə olur. Adi soğanın yarpaqları borucuqşəkilli olub, tünd yaşıl rəngdədir.
