Pueblu neutral

La Confederación Neutral foi un pueblu indíxena d'América del Norte que vivió na mariña norte de los llagos Ontario y Erie. Yeren una sociedá fundamental agraria y entendíen unos cuarenta asentamientos permanentes. El grupu más grande se autodenominaba Chonnonton, «guardianes de los venaos», yá que llendaben a dichos animales en corrolades;[1] otru grupu llamábase Onguiaahra, «cerca de les grandes agües» o posiblemente «l'estrechu», y vivíen al sur de la península del Niágara y el so nome ye l'orixe de la pallabra «Niágara».[2] El territoriu chonnonton contenía grandes depósitos de pedernal, recursu pervalible pa fabricar ferramientes cortantes, faer fueu y eventualmente armes de fueu, siendo la primer razón por que suministraren a furones ya iroqueses.

Les Rellaciones Xesuítiques de 1652 describen tatuaxes ente los petunes y neutrales.[3] Fueron conquistaos polos iroqueses mientres les Guerres de los Castores en 1653.
