NGC 884 ye un cúmulu abiertu alcontráu a 7600 años lluz[3]na constelación de Perséu. El cúmulu tien una edá averada de 12.5 millones d'años. Ye'l más oriental del Cúmulu Doble con NGC 869. Alcontraos na asociación OB1 Perseus, dambos cúmulos tán físicamente unu cerca del otru, a solo unos cientos d'años lluz de distancia. Los cúmulos fueron rexistraos per primer vegada por Hiparco de Nicea, pero ye probable que se conozan dende l'antigüedá.

El Doble Cúmulu ye un favoritu de los astrónomos aficionaos. Estos cúmulos brillosos de cutiu fotográfiense o se reparen con pequeños telescopios. Fáciles d'atopar, son visibles a güeyu ente les constelaciones de Perséu y Casiopea como una mancha brillosa nel cielu d'iviernu de la Vía Lláctea.

Con pequeños telescopios el cúmulu apaez como un formosu conxuntu d'estrelles brilloses alcontraes nun ricu campu estelar. Apoderáu por estrelles azules brilloses el cúmulu tamién alluga unes cuantes estrelles naranxes qu'añaden interés visual. Dambos cúmulos xuntos ufierten una vista espectacular a pocos aumentos. Dacuando conózse-y como χ Per anque probablemente esta denominación referir a dambos cúmulos.
