Minami Torishima (南鳥島, Minami Torishima?) o Islla Marcus ye una islla aisllada allugada al noroeste del océanu Pacíficu, nes coordenaes 24°18′N 153°58′E / 24.300°N 153.967°E / 24.300; 153.967 24°18′N 153°58′E / 24.300°N 153.967°E / 24.300; 153.967 / 24°18′N 153°58′E / 24.300°N 153.967°E / 24.300; 153.967, 24°18′N 153°58′E / 24.300°N 153.967°E / 24.300; 153.967 El significáu en xaponés ye "islla de los páxaros del sur". Tien una área de 1,2 km². Ye'l territoriu más oriental de Xapón a 1.848 km al sureste de Tokiu, y a 1.267 km al este de la islla xaponesa más cercana, Minami Iōesbastia nes Islles Ogasawara, y forma una llinia ente Tokiu y la Islla Wake, que ta a 1.415 km al este-sureste. La islla más cercana ye Farallón de Páxaros nes Islles Marianes del Norte, que ta a 1.021 km al oeste-suroeste.[2]

La islla foi afayada pol capitán español Andrés de Arriola en 1694, nel viaxe de torna dende Manila a Acapulco, pero la so llocalización nun se rexistró hasta'l sieglu XIX. Ye mentada per primer vegada en 1864, dando una posición por una nave d'observación de los Estaos Xuníos en 1874 y en 1879, Kiozaemon Saito trió tierra. Xapón oficialmente reclamó la islla'l 19 de xunetu de 1898.

Mientres la Segunda Guerra Mundial 4.000 soldaos xaponeses tuvieron aparcaos na islla, que foi atacada pola Marina de los Estaos Xuníos en 1943, ensin consiguir la so rindición o ocupación.

La islla ye usada na actualidá pa la observación meteorolóxica y tien una pequeña estación de radio.

Alministrativamente forma parte de les Islles Ogasawara en Xapón.
