Max Heinrich Hermann Reinhardt Nettlau (30 d'abril de 1865, Neuwaldegg (es) Traducir – 23 de xunetu de 1944, Ámsterdam) foi un importante historiador del anarquismu alemán y internacional.[5] Partidariu del anarquismu ensin adxetivos y el panarquismu.[6]

Biografía

Nettlau estudió la llingua y lliteratura celtes en Viena, onde algamó, a la edá de 23 años, el títulu de Doctor na Universidá de Leipzig con una tesis sobre la gramática de la llingua Cimbrica. Pero concentróse rápidamente na compilación de importantes documentos de la historia del movimientu anarquista. Pa esto viaxó a través d'Europa y vivió en Londres y Viena. Dende 1885 a 1890, perteneció a la Lliga Socialista, y a partir de 1895, al Freedom Group.

A lo llargo de la crisis económica que siguió a la Primer Guerra Mundial, la inflación fizo perder a Nettlau la fortuna heredada de los padres, lo que lu fizo vivir en condiciones bien abegoses. Ensin embargo, continuó atropando documentos y publicando. En 1935, Nettlau vendió la so inmensa coleición de llibros, periódicos, archivos y otros documentos sobre'l socialismu y l'anarquismu al Internationaal Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis (IISG).[7]

Nettlau vivió n'Amsterdam dende 1938 hasta la so muerte en 1944.
