Jane Marcet, nacida como Haldimand, (1 de xineru de 1769, Londres – 28 de xunu de 1858, Londres) yera una escritora exitòsa de llibros populares d'introducción a la ciencia.

Vida

Siguiendo la tradición suiza, foi educada en casa colos sos hermanos y estudió llatín (esencial pa les ciencies), química, bioloxía, y hestoria, según les temes que n'Inglaterra naquel tiempu considerábense necesarios pa les moces nueves.[4] Jane tuvo qu'ocupase de la casa y del so hermanu a la edá de 15 años, dempués de la muerte de la so madre.[5] Jane desenvolvió un interés tempranu pol arte mientres un viaxe n'Italia en 1796. Estudió arte con Joshua Reynolds y Thomas Lawrence, lo cual sirviólu más tarde pa ilustrar los sos llibros.[6]
