El haiku (俳句, haiku (俳句?)) ye un tipu de poesía xaponesa. Consiste nun poema curtiu, de diecisiete moras", formáu xeneralmente por trés versos de cinco y siete "moras" respeutivamente. Esta métrica nun ye fixa. Comúnmente sustitúyense les moras" por sílabes cuando se componen n'otres llingües. La esencia del haiku ye "cortar" (kiru) por aciu la yuxtaposición de dos idees o imáxenes separaes por un kireji, que ye'l términu cortante" o separador.

La poética del haiku xeneralmente básase nel plasmu y la emoción (aware) que produz nel poeta la contemplación de la naturaleza.[1] Siguiendo l'esquema tradicional xaponés, un haiku tien de contener tamién una referencia direuta o indireuta a la estación del añu, por aciu l'usu d'un kigo o pallabra que remembra les estaciones. Los saijiki son llistes estenses de pallabres kigo en xaponés, que'l poeta puede utilizar.

Oríxenes

Haiku, zen y sintoísmu

Ye común rellacionar el haikú col zen. Sicasí, anque'l zen utilizó'l haikú pal espardimientu de la so filosofía, falta enforma de ser l'orixe del mesmu. Nel Man'yōshū (obra clásica d'escoyeta de poesía del sieglu VIII) hai munchos poemes de 31 moras onde apaez yá l'actitú carauterística del haiku: la Naturaleza nun ye escusa de los sentimientos humanos, sinón oxetu poéticu en sí mesmu. O, lo que ye lo mesmo, el poema surde «del plasmu del xaponés primitivu polo qu'asocedía na Naturaleza».[2]

La vinculación col zen producióse cuando nel sieglu XVII Matsuo Bashō, monxu budista, popularizó'l haiku en Xapón. Nel sieglu XX Daisetsu Teitaro Suzuki, gran maestru budista zen, enfoca'l haiku como espresión poética del zen na so obra El zen y la cultura xaponesa. Esto solo ye válidu pa dellos haikús, pero al traviés de la obra de Reginald Horace Blyth, difusor del haikú nel mundu anglosaxón, l'enfoque de Suzuki diose a conocer llargamente.

Del katauta al haiku

El haiku forma parte d'una familia de formes poétiques xaponeses nes que se combinen versos de cinco y siete moras. La forma métrica carauterística del haiku (un tercetillo que los sos versos tienen 5, 7 y 5 moras, respeutivamente) apaez yá nel sieglu VIII col nome de katauta.[3] Dos katauta formaben un mondoo, un diálogu ente dos personaxes, nel que'l primera katauta ye una entruga y el segundu la respuesta a la mesma.

Dende finales del sieglu VIII, la forma poética más común ye'l tanka: tratase d'un cantar curtiu formada por dos estrofes desiguales. La primera, llamada hokku, sigue'l patrón carauterísticu del katauta (y del haiku): un tercetillo 5-7-5, ente que la segunda ta formada por dos versos de 7 moras. Dáu'l so predominiu, al tanka conózse-y tamién como waka: ye'l cantar» por antonomasia.

Los tanka apaecíen de cutiu encadenaos nuna forma cimera, el renga: a un tanka inicial asocedíen-y delles respuestes, que podíen ser obra de diversos poetes. Cuando'l renga tenía un tonu humorísticu, llamábase-y haikai renga (hai significa 'daqué risonderu' y kai quier dicir 'estrofa' o 'poema').
