Gerardo González Vernaza (13 d'abril de 1929, Provincia de Veraguas (es) Traducir – 21 d'ochobre de 2006, Ciudá de Panamá)[1] foi un políticu y economista panamiegu. Fungió como ministru, diputáu y vicepresidente de Panamá.

Primeros años

Graduóse na Universidá de Panamá como llicenciáu n'Economía, especializándose depués na Universidá de Chile nel campu de la Estadística pal Desarrollu y la Planificación. Darréu, tomó un posgráu n'Economía y Alministración Pública en Perú.

Depués de volver a Panamá, fungió como funcionariu na Contraloría Xeneral de la República en dellos cargos dende 1957 hasta 1969.

Carrera política

Cola llegada del réxime militar, foi nomáu viceministru de Comerciu ya Industries n'abril de 1969, y depués en 1972 foi nomáu como'l primer ministru de Desarrollu Agropecuariu. Col beneplácito del Conseyu Xeneral del Estáu, foi escoyíu como vicepresidente de Panamá vicepresidente de Demetrio Basilio Lakas en 1975 y ocupó como Presidente Encargáu del 4 al 12 de marzu de 1976. Tamién foi asesor nes negociaciones de los Trataos Torrijos Carter.

En 1979, foi fundador del Partíu Revolucionariu Democráticu y llogró el beneplácito d'Omar Torrijos.[2] Foi electu llexislador de l'Asamblea Nacional dientro del periodu 1989-1999 y foi presidente de l'Asamblea ente los años 1997 y 1999. Tres la cayida del réxime militar, González convertir nun duru opositor del presidente Guillermo Endara.[3]

En 2004 foi electu diputáu del Parllamentu Centroamericanu, cargu que tuvo hasta'l so fallecimientu.[2]
