El hámster euroasiáticu[1] (Cricetus cricetus) ye una especie de royedor miomorfu de la familia Cricetidae mesma d'Eurasia. Nun se reconocen subespecies.[2] De cutiu considérase una plaga de les tierres de llabranza,[3] y tamién foi atrapáu pola so piel.

Descripción

El hámster euroasiáticu ye enforma mayor que l'hámster doráu o siriu (Mesocricetus auratus) que suel criase como mascota, midiendo ente 10 y 15 cm más que la cobaya. Un exemplar adultu pesa ente 100 y 900 gramos y mide ente 20 y 35 centímetros de llargu, con una que bazcuya ente 2 y 5 centímetros de llargor. En 2007 la Comisión Europea amenació con multar a Francia con diecisiete millones d'euros por nun protexer la última población esistente de hámsters vulgares n'Europa occidental.[4]

Comportamientu

El hámster vulgar ye solitariu, pero crea un complexu sistema de llurigues. Aliméntase de granes, llegumes, verdures y delles plantes de porte herbal. Anque raramente son usaos como mascota, en cautividá'l hámster euroasiáticu suel tener una esperanza de vida bastante llarga, llegando a vivir hasta ocho años.
